Bertrandt wins automotiveIT “IT Team Award 2026” with violis.io

Ehningen, 30. October 2026 - Bertrandt has taken first place in the "Ecosystem Excellence" category of the automotiveIT "IT Team Awards 2026" with violis.io. The platform makes it possible to integrate and test vehicle software in a virtual environment before the corresponding physical control units or vehicles are available. This enables development teams to begin testing earlier, run numerous tests in parallel, and identify errors more quickly. At the same time, physical test benches are relieved and additional investments in test hardware are reduced.

The award was recently presented as part of the automotiveIT Congress. The "Ecosystem Excellence" category recognizes solutions through which technology partners and collaborating teams support the further development of the automotive industry, for example through IT projects with demonstrable economic benefits, innovative technology, and a sustainable impact on the way companies work. The overall score is based 60 percent on the assessment of an expert jury and 40 percent on community voting.

As the number of software-based vehicle functions increases, so does the effort required to validate them. New functions and updates must undergo extensive testing. At the same time, physical test systems are only available to a limited extent. As a result, development teams may have to wait for available capacity, and errors may only be identified at a later stage in the development process.

The violis.io platform from engineering partner Bertrandt replicates control units and their interaction in a virtual environment, bringing together virtual control units, simulation models, and existing test tools. This allows vehicle software to be tested even when the corresponding hardware is not yet available. Development teams can verify at an early stage whether individual functions are operating as intended and whether different vehicle functions interact reliably.

Unlike conventional hardware-based testing, test capacity is not dependent on the number of available test benches: Virtual test environments can be replicated on suitable IT infrastructure and operated in parallel. violis.io provides the required test environments, automates processes, and consolidates the results. By openly connecting different tools and test environments, existing systems and established test processes can continue to be used and integrated into automated workflows. Tests can be run in parallel both on cloud infrastructure and within the IT environment. Bertrandt combines its experience in vehicle validation with its expertise in setting up and operating the platform.

"With violis.io, we are shifting part of the validation process into the virtual world, enabling our customers to begin testing significantly earlier in the development process. Tests can be run in parallel and results can be made available more quickly. This allows physical test benches to be used specifically for tasks where physical hardware is actually required," says Nic Eckstein, Team Leader Testing Solutions at Bertrandt.

The benefits of violis.io become particularly clear when dealing with a large number of test cases, such as testing vehicle lighting. If 1,800 test combinations with an average runtime of seven minutes are performed sequentially, the entire test takes 210 hours. If, by contrast, 100 tests are run simultaneously, the calculated test duration is reduced to around 2.1 hours. This parallelization enables development teams to receive feedback significantly earlier and resolve errors more quickly. This reduces the time to market for new functions and updates.

At the same time, existing test benches are relieved and additional investments in test hardware are reduced.
