The City of Bloomington Public Works Department will reopen the Citizen Convenience Center on April 1, 2026. Residents can check the City website for current hours of operation:

The center will accept the following materials:
• Brush
• Leaves
• Grass clippings
• Recyclables
• Appliances
Bulk waste will no longer be accepted at the site. The City has transitioned to a curbside bulk collection program, which occurs every other week opposite a resident's recycling week. Each household receives one free bulk bucket per biweekly cycle, with additional buckets available for $30 each.
Residents are encouraged to download the Recycle Coach app to stay informed about garbage, recycling, brush, and bulk collection schedules, service reminders, and proper disposal options for common household items. The app is free in the App stores on iOS and Android devices and can also be accessed through the City's website.
Residents are asked to sort materials before arriving to help keep traffic moving and reduce wait times at the site.
"We're glad to reopen the Convenience Center and give residents another option for yard waste, recyclables, and appliances," said Public Works Director Mose Rickey. "Bulk items will continue to be handled through our curbside program, which helps keep things safer and running smoothly."
