SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 10, 2026) - Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox has issued an order for the flags of the United States of America and the great state of Utah to be flown at half-staff on all state facilities in recognition of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance.
"As we mark 25 years since the September 11 attacks, we remember the lives lost and the courage and sacrifice that followed," said Gov. Cox. "For millions of Americans, September 11 is now history rather than memory. That makes our promise to 'never forget' even more important: to tell the story, honor those we lost and carry the lessons of that day forward."
The flags should be lowered to the half-staff position at sunrise on Sept. 11, 2026, and remain at half-staff until sunset.
The governor extends an invitation to all private citizens, businesses, and other organizations to participate in this recognition.
