JEFFERSON CITY, Mo . - On Monday, April 6, the Bolivar Street overpass bridge over U.S. Route 50 closed for rehabilitation work. For the safety of the public and construction crews, this closure applies to motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians , and any other forms of transportation .
Barricades and 'closed' signs - whether for construction, flooding, etc. - indicate a roadway is not safe for general travel and only authorized personnel are permitted . Never bypass barricades or ignore 'closed' signs.
Rehabilitation work includes deck repairs, overlaying the driving surface, and applying a protective coating to the substructure. The non-continuous sidewalk on the north side of the bridge will be removed, and the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be enhanced. All work is expected to be complete d in mid-August .
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
This work is part of a multi-bridge project that included deck repairs and overlays for 11 bridges in Jefferson City - most of which w ere completed in 2025. More information about the multi-bridge project is available here: https://www.modot.org/projects/us-route-50-and-us-route-54-bridge-rehabilitations-cole-county
