Albania marks 17 years in NATO, Nufi: Proud of our achievements and commitment to the Alliance

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania commemorated today the 17th anniversary of the nation's accession to NATO. The official ceremony was conducted at the Land Force Garrison in Zall Herr, with the attendance of the Defense Minister, Mr. Ermal Nufi; Defense Deputy Ministers Enkelejd Joti and Blerina Abrazhda; Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji; members of Parliament; and personnel from all ranks of the Albanian Armed Forces.

In his address, Minister Nufi commended the Armed Forces for their performance and contributions over the past 17 years within the Alliance. He underscored the professionalism, discipline, and dedication of Albanian servicemen and servicewomen, who continue to represent the nation with honor in all assigned missions. "The Republic of Albania stands as a reliable Ally and a contributing factor to regional stability. We take justified pride in the capabilities built, the trust earned, and our unwavering alignment with NATO standards and objectives", - the Minister stated.

Lieutenant General Arben Kingji highlighted the strategic significance of NATO membership and Albania's sustained operational engagement. "Since accession, Albania has demonstrated steadfast commitment to the principles and responsibilities of the Alliance, actively participating in joint operations and missions. We acknowledge with appreciation the continued cooperation and support of our allies in strengthening the operational readiness and capabilities of our Armed Forces, in line with national and international obligations," - he declared.

Following the formal proceedings, Minister Nufi and members of the Parliamentary Security Committee conducted an inspection of military equipment and assets displayed at the garrison, receiving operational briefings on their capabilities and readiness status.

The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of Albania's enduring commitment to NATO, maintaining a high state of readiness and continuing its role as a dependable contributor to collective defense, regional stability, and international security.
