On the margins of the first official visit to Italy by the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Francisco Chapo, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique, Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, today signed an innovative Agreement that establishes a clear legal framework for all cooperation activities financed by Italy in the African country, ensuring that the projects align with Mozambique's development priorities and comply with international principles and Italy's obligations as a Member State of the European Union.
The Agreement also seeks to promote cooperation between public and private entities of the two countries, as well as with national and international organisations, thereby enhancing the implementation of concrete and long-term sustainable initiatives. A Declaration of Intent on digitalisation was also signed by Deputy Minister Cirielli and Minister Muchanga.
The meeting that followed the signing ceremony-an important opportunity to consolidate the bilateral partnership and advance joint initiatives in the fields of development, technical cooperation and governance-was also attended by the Mozambican Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Américo Muchanga and the Minister of Youth and Sport, Caifadine Manasse.
