Tampa Theatre's Fifth Annual Black Love Classics Series, presented by Tampa Electric, concludes this Sunday, February 22, with a 3:00 pm showing of Carmen Jones. Tickets are $12 ($9 for Members) at TampaTheatre.org or the Franklin Street Box Office.

In honor of Black History Month, each Sunday in February the Tampa Theatre has shown love stories as told by Black filmmakers and diverse casts. This year's theme, "At the Heart of It All," included the unforgettable films:

  • Feb. 1: If Beale Street Could Talk

  • Feb. 8: The Photograph

  • Feb. 15: Boomerang

  • Feb. 22: Carmen Jones

This beloved series honors Black excellence in film and vibrant community engagement. Following Sunday's screening, guests are invited to stay for a film talk led by Taylor Raye Curry, Associate Professor of Film at the University of Tampa. Moviegoers are also encouraged to arrive early for networking, live podcasts, and community connections

In 2022, Tampa Theatre's Black Love classic movie series was created in collaboration with the City of Tampa's Community Engagement & Partnerships Department to celebrate some of the greatest cinematic love stories of all time. Learn more and purchase tickets.
