The main Erasmus+ Info Day on higher education was held at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro. The event was organised by the National Erasmus+ Office and the University of Montenegro.
A representative of the EU Delegation, Liselotte Isaksson, emphasised that in challenging times marked by pressure and restrictions on academic freedoms around the world, the importance of the Erasmus+ programme is growing even further. As she noted, the programme provides universities with stable support for their development, the strengthening of international links, the resilience of the academic community, and the preservation of fundamental academic values.
The main topics of the event included an overview of the results of Montenegro's participation in the Erasmus+ 2025 call, as well as the presentation of novelties within the Erasmus+ 2026 call. These covered mobility activities, International Credit Mobility (ICM), Virtual Exchanges, and Erasmus Mundus, Capacity Building in Higher Education, and Jean Monnet actions, along with practical advice on preparing successful project applications. The presentations were delivered by Vanja Drljević, Ljiljana Gogić and Rina Muhaj from the National Erasmus+ Office. The event also featured examples of new CBHE projects approved in 2025, as well as presentations of the Erasmus+ networks Eurydice and YouthWiki, coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro.
"What is most important, and what we always highlight as the key result and the greatest success for Montenegro, are the achievements related to capacity building in higher education, where Montenegro has been awarded nine projects overall, including two coordinated by Montenegrin institutions. In the remaining seven projects, Montenegro participates as a partner. What is particularly significant is that we have two coordinating institutions. One project is coordinated by the University of Montenegro, and the other project, which is of exceptional importance, marks the first time that an institution appears in the Erasmus+ programme as a coordinator - the Faculty for Montenegrin Language and Literature," emphasised Vanja Drljević, Director of the National Erasmus+ Office.
"The Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme for 2026 introduces a novelty regarding the maximum number of project proposals that institutions from the academic community may submit to the call in the role of coordinator," highlighted Filip Petrović, Project Management Associate at the Project Office of the University of Montenegro.
"Montenegro has shown that it wants to and can be an active partner, and the results achieved confirm the dedication of our institutions and individuals. The new Erasmus+ programme particularly highlights innovative learning methods, the development of key competences, and the strengthening of partnerships, which are important for the modernisation of our education system. I encourage everyone to seize this opportunity and to be ambitious in designing projects that can bring about lasting change," said Vasilije Turković, representing the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro.
