The Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners has launched a new webpage to provide the public with transparent information on the use of opioid settlement dollars received through national litigation against opioid manufacturers and distributors.
The website details allocations made in accordance with the OneOhio Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which directs settlement funds toward prevention, treatment, recovery, and enforcement efforts. Current allocations include support for the Crime Enforcement Agency of Ashtabula County (CEAAC), Safe Communities, the Andover and Orwell Village Police Departments, and the 2004 Fund.
"This launch is part of our commitment to transparency and accountability," Commissioner Kathryn Whittington stated. "The webpage provides year-to-date totals, the length of payments, and outlines how the County is reinvesting settlement funds into programs that strengthen prevention, recovery and enforcement efforts to address the opioid crisis."
"The opioid crisis has touched nearly every family in our community. By creating this webpage, we are giving residents a clear view of how these funds are being used to strengthen prevention, treatment, and enforcement efforts," said Commissioner J. P. Ducro IV.
The new webpage is available at: One Ohio Recovery Foundation | Ashtabula County, OH - Official Website
"These dollars are meant to bring real, positive change. Launching this site ensures the public can follow the process and see that the money is directly supporting local solutions," said Commissioner Casey Kozlowski.
Under the OneOhio MOU, settlement funds are divided statewide, with 30% distributed directly to Ohio local governments, 55% directed to the OneOhio Foundation, and 15% allocated to the State of Ohio.
