WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, Freight, Pipelines, and Safety, was recently featured in an Investigate TV report on the impact of cargo theft.
The report examines the recent surge in cargo theft across the nation and its significant impact on America's supply chains. It also highlights how Congress is partnering with industry leaders and government agencies to address this issue, including through the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act.
Senator Young joined Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) in introducing this legislation, which would establish a coordinated multi-agency response and provide new tools to address evolving trends in organized retail and cargo theft.
Young convened a subcommittee hearing in February titled "Grand Theft Cargo: Examining the Costly Threat to Consumers and the U.S. Supply Chain."
