HONOLULU, March 13, 2026 - Powerful winds and heavy rain caused damage that temporarily took out a transmission line that provides electricity to much of windward Oahu, east Honolulu and parts of Waikiki. Hawaiian Electric crews were able to identify the issue and restore power to 29,000 customers in those areas. However, some customers on Oahu as well as in parts of Maui County and on Hawaii Island who are currently without power are expected to remain without electricity overnight.
As of 8:30 p.m.:
Because of the dynamic nature of the storm system, outage numbers represent a snapshot in time and are subject to change as additional customers are restored and more outages occur, sometimes in the same area. Customers can view current outages and report outages on the outage map at hawaiianelectric.com and on the mobile app.
Our priorities for restoration emphasize safety and essential community services. Restoration also will take place in a manner designed to affect the greatest number of customers first.
