NATCA Leadership Meets with FAA Academy Students in Oklahoma City

Dec 19, 2025

NATCA President Nick Daniels recently joined Western Pacific Regional Vice President Joel Ortiz, National Training Representative Jamaal Haltom (Las Vegas ATCT, LAS), and Reloaded Committee Member Cameron Haynes (Wichita ATCT, ICT) in meeting with more than two dozen FAA Academy students in Oklahoma City. NATCA leaders spoke about union solidarity and how it strengthens both the profession and each members' career. They also discussed their individual pathways into leadership.

Academy students asked several questions, many focusing on how NATCA supports developmental controllers. NATCA leaders also pointed out the training opportunities NATCA offers, and how those opportunities strengthen our Union and the future of this profession.

NATCA leaders and FAA students also discussed the Union's recent work surrounding the government shutdown and NATCA's continued work advocating legislation to protect members.

This meet and greet in Oklahoma City was the final one for 2025. NATCA looks forward to hosting more Academy Meet and Greet events in 2026, with our first one being on Feb. 4, 2026.
