Our resident heat expert, Hector Ayala, knows a lot about burners - the ones on your stovetop and the much bigger ones that power nearly every industrial facility.

In our new video, Hector introduces you to a potential game-changing technology: an industrial burner that can run on up to 100 percent hydrogen.

These burners, developed in partnership with Zeeco, Inc., can help reduce CO2 emissions from heat-intensive heavy industries like steel, glass and chemicals. Why? Because hydrogen produces the high temperatures these industries need, but with no CO2 emissions at point of use.

ExxonMobil is planning to build the world's largest low-carbon hydrogen facility in Baytown, Texas, and we're planning to use these burners at our Baytown complex and elsewhere to help reduce our own emissions.

Because these burners can run on up to 100% hydrogen but can also use more traditional fuels, "I see them as a way to let facilities transition, to become hydrogen-ready," says Hector, who is our Senior Principal of Heat Transfer. "These burners allow facilities to use the blend of fuels that makes sense for them."

Hector's excited about these new hydrogen burners. Check out our new video to see why.
