The application window is now open for Northern Michigan University donor-funded student scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year. All NMU students are eligible to apply for the scholarships through Feb. 16.

More than 600 NMU students were awarded nearly $1.5 million in support from NMU Foundation donor-funded scholarships last year. This year, there are more than 375 donor-funded scholarships available for students, which range from $500 up to full-ride awards. There are also 50 NMU Foundation Scholarships worth $1,000 each, open to all students with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Donor-funded scholarships are privately funded, and often established to honor a family member, classmate, mentor, friend or faculty member. In some instances, the scholarship supports a specific area of study or students from a particular region. Descriptions of the available scholarships and their respective applications can be accessed through the Foundation Scholarships tile within MyNMU.

Applicants will be reviewed by various committees across campus throughout March and April, and awards will be posted to student accounts beginning in May and through August. Students selected for a scholarship will be notified via e-mail.
