NEW YORK, NY - September 29, 2026 - Recording artist and disability culture advocate Lachi has been named a finalist in two categories, Disability Awareness and Community Engagement, at the 11th Annual Shorty Impact Awards for both Magnificent and RAMPD .
Released through Platoon Kids, Lachi's 10-song pop and hip-hop children's album Magnificent brought together more than 70 collaborators, many with lived experience of disability and neurodivergence. Contributors include Lisa Loeb, Mega Ran, Matthew Whitaker, Raul Midón, Mandy Harvey and Dom Kelly. Conceived as the album Lachi wished she had while growing up with vision loss and ADHD, Magnificent gives children anthems that celebrate difference, identity and belonging through the voices of artists who reflect their experiences.
The project carries that approach beyond the music. Songs including "Magnificent," "Fidget," "I Like Me" and "Soy Diferente" have received national rotation onSiriusXM's Kids Place, alongside editorial playlist placements on Spotify and Apple Music. A free companion curriculum developed with Center for Equitable Learning (CEL)' s The Nora Project uses the album to help educators lead conversations about disability, neurodiversity and inclusion. Lachi has created a companion coloring book with extensive liner notes and also released a lyric video for each of the album's 10 songs, pairing them with collaborative social posts that introduce families to a range of perspectives and experiences.
The finalist entry also recognizes RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities) , the professional network and consultancy Lachi founded in 2021. RAMPD connects disabled and neurodivergent music professionals with opportunities while working with entertainment organizations to improve access and career pathways. During Disability Pride Month, its "We are the industry and we support disability" activation brought the message to social media, venue marquees and screens with participants including Brooklyn Bowl, National Sawdust and Women in Music.
"Magnificent was built to give kids the anthems, joy, and representation I needed growing up. Every collaborator on the project helped make that vision bigger than I ever could have imagined," shares Lachi . "For RAMPD, this recognition celebrates the power, drive, and talent in my community, the Disability Community. We're out here! We're done masking, we're done waiting to be included in the music industry, and we're actively shaping what the future looks and sounds like."
"This year's theme, 'What Matters?' puts the focus back on the purpose behind the work: what needs to change, who needs to be reached, and what meaningful action looks like beyond the dashboard," said Junmian Sun, Managing Director, Shorty Impact Awards. "We're proud to recognize this year's finalists and invite the public to weigh in through the Audience Honor Voting , running September 29 through October 13."
Winners will be announced at the Shorty Impact Awards ceremony on November 17, at The Belasco in Los Angeles.
