Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA Celebrates National Mentoring Month
Harrisburg, PA - January is National Mentoring Month and Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of South-Central PA is proud to celebrate the invaluable role mentoring plays in empowering youth and fostering stronger communities. This month-long celebration highlights and raises awareness for the power of mentoring, and BBBS of South-Central PA is honoring the volunteers who dedicate their time to transforming the lives of youth across the agency's 7-county region.
National Mentoring Month is a time to reflect on the significance of mentorship and the transformative influence it can have on the lives of young people. Big Brothers Big Sisters believes that every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential, and mentorship plays a pivotal role in making that possible.
Through their one-to-one mentoring program, Big Brothers Big Sisters connects children and teens with caring mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and support. These meaningful relationships help inspire confidence, foster positive social and academic outcomes, and open doors to new possibilities for young people in our community.
"This month is dedicated to recognizing the difference our mentors make in shaping the future of the youth we serve," said Amy Rote, CEO of BBBS of South-Central PA. "In 2024, we had the privilege of impacting the lives of over 1,300 young people across our service area. We've seen firsthand how a mentor can help a child reach their full potential," she adds.
To mark National Mentoring Month, BBBS of South-Central PA will share success stories, mentor spotlights, and resources while encouraging individuals to get involved in the mentoring movement. Additionally, The Pennsylvania State Capitol building will display green lights January 10, 11 & 12 in honor of the positive impact that mentors make in the lives of children across the State.
