Roger Williams University School of Law Launches Spring CLE Series for Rhode Island Attorneys

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University School of Lawhas launched a new Continuing Legal Education(CLE) series this spring, expanding accessible, practice-focused learning opportunities for Rhode Island attorneys.

Rhode Island requires licensed attorneys to complete 10 hours of CLE annually, including mandated credits in areas such as ethics and, beginning this year, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). The new RWU Law series is designed to help practitioners meet those requirements through timely, relevant programming delivered in a convenient format.

As the only institution in the Ocean State offering a Juris Doctor degree, RWU Law plays a central role in supporting the state's legal community. The CLE program is open to all Rhode Island attorneys and law students and provides an affordable alternative for earning required credits while strengthening professional practice statewide.

The inaugural session explored social equity and cannabis policy, examining the historical context of cannabis regulation, implementation efforts, and drug policy reform. The program featured panelists from the Rhode Island Cannabis Control Commission and Associate Professor of Law Shannon Heery, and was moderated by RWU Law's Assistant Dean for Curricular Innovation and Professor Nicole Dyszlewski.

Designed with accessibility in mind, the series is conducted fully online and features one-hour sessions held monthly. Fees are waived for current RWU Law students, faculty, and staff, and reduced for alumni as well as attorneys working in government or nonprofit organizations.
