City of Mesquite to host Annual Doggie Splash Day

Dogs and their owners are invited to swim together at the City of Mesquite's annual Doggie Splash Day. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 9, at Vanston Pool, located at 2913 Oates Dr.

Dogs can compete for prizes in several competitions, including the swimsuit contest, diving contest and doggie paddle race. The wading pool and lap pool will be accessible to dogs and their owners during the annual event.

As a special treat, dog owners can cool off with free lemonade from Raising Canes and their furry friends can enjoy complimentary pup cups provided by Starbucks while supplies last. A limited number of Doggie Splash Day t-shirts will be available for the first 100 attendees.

Admission is $5 for one owner and one pet, $2 for each additional pet, and $1 for all spectators. Pet parents can skip the line and pre-register their dogs at www.cityofmesquite.com/DoggieSplashDay .

All owners will be required to show proof of current vaccination papers and must be accompanied by a responsible person 16 years and older. Aggressive or socially awkward dogs may be asked to leave.
