A new Level III electric vehicle (EV) charging station has been installed in the Visitors Center parking lot 34 on Massachusetts Avenue, offering a fast and convenient charging option for the campus community and visitors.

Level III chargers, also known as DC fast chargers, can provide an 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes, making them ideal for drivers on-the-go.

"We're thrilled to bring back Level III charging to campus," says Jonathan King, parking manager at UMass Parking Services. "This upgrade not only enhances our EV infrastructure but also aligns with our broader goals of promoting sustainable mobility and supporting the growing number of EV drivers in our community."

The installation of the charging station, which is available to the public and can be accessed through ChargePoint, supports UMass Amherst's ongoing commitment to sustainability, clean transportation and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

More information about EV charging on campus can be found on the Transportation Services website.
