The Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has approved the Concept and Roadmap for the Development of Supervisory Technologies (SupTech) for 2026-2031.
SupTech (Supervisory Technology) is a program of projects comprising a number of initiatives aimed at automating processes and implementing digital tools based on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data. Similar programs are already being implemented by financial regulators in 140 countries around the world and have become a widely accepted standard for the development of regulatory practices.
The SupTech program includes interconnected initiatives covering the expansion of data collection and analytics, the implementation of digital tools, electronic licensing, process automation, the creation of a corporate data management system, the development of digital competencies among employees, and the strengthening of cyber resilience.
This program is of the greatest practical significance for the banking sector. The implementation of digital tools creates the conditions for more transparent, rapid, and predictable interaction between banks and the regulator across a wide range of procedures - from licensing to compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing requirements.
Unified digital standards introduced under the program are aimed at simplifying the integration of supervised institutions' information systems with the National Bank's infrastructure and creating a unified technological foundation for further digital interaction.
The implementation of the SupTech program is a step toward digital, analytical supervision focused on transparency, speed, and ease of interaction for all supervised institutions.
