FEMA Announces More Than $10.5 Million to Support Colorado Communities Through Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grants

DENVER - FEMA announced more than $10.5 million in Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant funding for Colorado. This funding will empower community leaders to take decisive steps to protect infrastructure and people from future wildfires and flooding. This funding aligns with President Donald J. Trump's America First Resilience Strategy, which calls for a new, risk-informed approach that treats resilience as an investment opportunity. It also delivers on the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mullin's commitment to empowering state and local officials to manage their own disaster preparedness-with FEMA supporting only if needed.

The funding announced for FEMA's Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program includes:

• More than $8.6 million to the city of Greeley for the Gold Hill Pipeline project.
  
• More than $1 million to Jefferson County Parks & Conservation for Roadway Wildfire Hazard Mitigation.
  
• More than $869,000 to the Mesa County Public Works Division for the Douglas Wash Detention Basin Project.

Congress directed that these funds be distributed in the Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security and Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act. Most projects focus on improving infrastructure to reduce flood risk, while others address hazards such as earthquakes and wildfires.
