Middlesex County Offers Multiple Convenient Ways to Vote in the 2026 General Election

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ - With the 2026 General Election on Tuesday, November 3, Middlesex County reminds residents that there are several convenient ways to cast their ballots. Voters can vote in person during the nine-day Early Voting period, vote at their assigned polling location on Election Day, or return their completed Mail-In Ballot through one of several available methods, including secure ballot drop boxes that are monitored by video surveillance and are collected regularly.

Following the U.S. Supreme Court's September 14 order, New Jersey's existing Vote-by-Mail procedures remain in place for the 2026 General Election. Voters who choose to vote by mail can continue to use the established process to return their completed Mail-In Ballot to a secure ballot drop box, the County Board of Elections, or through the United States Postal Service (USPS). Voters can find drop box locations, Early Voting sites, Election Day polling locations, and additional election information at middlesexcountynj.gov/vote.

Voters who have questions or concerns about their eligibility to vote are encouraged to contact the Middlesex County Board of Elections at 732-745-3471 for assistance. Voters may also seek assistance through the appropriate state election authorities, including the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, if they have questions about their voting rights or eligibility.

"Whether you choose to vote during Early Voting, on Election Day, or by Mail-In Ballot, there are options to fit your schedule. We encourage residents to plan ahead, familiarize themselves with their voting options and deadlines, and make their voices heard in the 2026 General Election."

"Voters who choose to receive a Mail-In Ballot can be assured that the established Vote-by-Mail process remains in place for the November 3 General Election," said Middlesex County Clerk Nancy J. Pinkin. "In coordination with the Prosecutor's Office and the Board of Elections, we are committed to keeping the election transparent, secure, and accessible. We want every eligible voter to know where to go, what to expect, and how to return their ballot so they can participate with confidence."

HOW TO VOTE IN THE 2026 GENERAL ELECTION

There are three ways to vote in the 2026 General Election:

• Return a Mail-In Ballot - Mail-in ballots are an easy and convenient way to vote. The easiest and most secure way to return your mail-in ballot is by dropping it at one of the 34 secure ballot drop boxes - at least one in each municipality - to deliver it directly to the Board of Elections or to return it through USPS.
• In-person Early Voting - Another great option at one of the convenient early voting locations. The County offers 10 Early Voting locations from Saturday, October 24, through Sunday, November 1.
• In-person voting on Election Day - Voters can cast their ballot at their assigned polling location on Tuesday, November 3.

IMPORTANT 2026 GENERAL ELECTION DEADLINES

• October 13: Deadline to register to vote in the General Election.
• October 27: Deadline to apply by mail or through the online portal for a Mail-In Ballot.
• November 2 by 3 pm: Deadline to apply in person for a Mail-In Ballot.

RETURNING A MAIL-IN BALLOT

Voters who receive a Mail-In Ballot have three ways to return it:

1. Use a secure Ballot Drop Box - Middlesex County has 34 secure ballot drop boxes located throughout the County. Voters may deposit their completed and sealed Mail-In Ballot in any designated Middlesex County Board of Elections drop box by 8 pm on Tuesday, November 3. Drop boxes are located throughout Middlesex County, are monitored by video surveillance, and ballots are collected regularly. To find a complete list of drop box locations, click here.
2. Deliver it to the Board of Elections - Completed Mail-In Ballots may be delivered directly to the Middlesex County Board of Elections, 26 Kennedy Boulevard, Suite B, East Brunswick, by 8 pm on Tuesday, November 3. Identification is required.
3. Return it through USPS - Voters may return their Mail-In Ballot through USPS. The ballot must be postmarked on or before 8 pm on Tuesday, November 3. While mailed ballots may currently be received by the Board of Elections by Monday, November 9, the County recommends mailing ballots at least one week before Election Day to ensure they arrive on time.

Voters who do not receive a Mail-In Ballot may request a replacement from the County Clerk's office by calling 732-745-4202 or by sending a replacement ballot request form to P.O. Box 1110, New Brunswick, NJ 08903.

Please note that Vote-By-Mail Ballots CANNOT be returned to in-person Early Voting or General Election Day polling locations.

VOTING EARLY IN PERSON

Registered voters who prefer to vote in person can cast their ballot at any of the 10 Early Voting locations in Middlesex County during the nine-day Early Voting period, from Saturday, October 24, through Sunday, November 1. Hours will be Monday to Saturday, 10 am-8 pm, and Sunday, 10 am-6 pm. No appointment is necessary.

In-person early voting polling sites are in the following municipalities throughout Middlesex County:

• East Brunswick
• Edison
• Monroe
• New Brunswick
• Old Bridge
• Perth Amboy
• Piscataway
• Sayreville
• South Brunswick
• Woodbridge

Voters who receive a Mail-In Ballot but do not return their ballot may still vote in person by provisional ballot at an early voting location.

VOTING IN PERSON ON GENERAL ELECTION DAY

In-person voting is available to all registered voters in Middlesex County. Voters may vote in person at their assigned polling place on General Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026. All polling locations can be found on the County website or on your sample ballot, which will be mailed two weeks prior to the General Election. Polling locations will be open from 6 am to 8 pm on General Election Day.

Voters who receive a Mail-In Ballot but do not return their ballot may still vote in person by provisional ballot at their assigned polling place on General Election Day, November 3.
