Joint Study Committee on Evaluating Escalating Costs in Georgia’s Foster Care System to Hold Second Meeting

ATLANTA (September 14, 2026) - On Thursday, September 17, at 9:00 a.m., the Joint Study Committee on Evaluating Escalating Costs in Georgia's Foster Care System, co-chaired by Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick (R-Marietta) and Rep. Beth Camp (R-Concord), will hold its second meeting.

ABOUT THE MEETING:

The meeting will examine the impact of rising out-of-home care costs to improve on the state's ability to provide necessary services for children in state custody. The committee will hear presentations from the Office of the Child Advocate, Together Georgia and Justice for Children, followed by responses to committee questions from the Department of Family and Children Services.
