Caldecott Tunnel Overnight Closures on Eastbound State Route 24 Bore #1 for Maintenance Activities

Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and Wednesday, September 16, 2026
10:00 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.

Alameda And Contra Costa Counties - Caltrans has scheduled overnight closures of Bore 1 of the Caldecott Tunnel on eastbound SR-24 to perform lighting upgrades and routine tunnel maintenance. For current District 4 lane closure information click here.

Eastbound SR-24 Bore #1 (right) Closures:

WHEN:

  • Tuesday, September 15, 2026
  • Wednesday, September 16, 2026

TIME:

  • 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., Nightly

During these closures, all other bores in each direction will remain open. All work is weather dependent.

Traffic Control Measures:
Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays, prepare to merge and allow extra travel time. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
