Census Bureau Releases New Geospatial Data Products

SEPT. 23, 2025 - The U.S. Census Bureau today released new Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER)/Line files in Shapefile, Geodatabase and GeoPackage formats, allowing data users to create custom, thematic maps from a variety of data sources.

The 2025 updates include new Current Suffixed Blocks Geodatabases and GeoPackages, which contain 2020 and current block information with suffixes indicating blocks that have been split since 2020. These data can be linked to the Census Bureau's current address count listing files.

Geospatial data contain, but are not limited to, legal, administrative, and statistical boundaries, roads and hydrography. The geographic boundary data can be linked to future 2025 vintage demographic data on data.census.gov, allowing users to visualize census tabular data on a map.

TIGER/Line files do not include demographic data, but they do contain geographic entity codes (GEOIDs) that can be linked to the Census Bureau's demographic data. For help determining which product to use, visit the TIGER Data Products Guide page.
