Lindsey Graham Asks Taxpayers to Foot The Bill for Trump’s Ballroom Arrow

Donald Trump promised that construction of his ballroom would be "taxpayer-free" as he raked in hundreds of millions of dollars in private donations - and even claimed that it has already been "fully financed" by major donors. But as Americans struggle to make ends meet in Trump's economy, Senator Lindsey Graham wants to force working families to pay for Trump's lavish $400 million White House ballroom with their hard-earned taxpayer dollars. The suggestion is even rankling some of Trump's GOP allies

While Republicans try to force Americans to foot the bill for Trump's ballroom, they're refusing to fund the Department of Homeland Security after the Senate unanimously passed a DHS funding bill 33 days ago.

On top of that, 55% of Americans say their financial situation is getting worse - the highest level in 25 years. The average American family could spend an additional $5,000 this year because of Trump and Republicans' disastrous trade war, spiking gas prices, higher grocery costs, and health insurance premium increases.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Donald Trump and Republicans have jacked up prices for working families and now they want us to pay for Trump's gold-plated ballroom. Trump and Republicans can find taxpayer money for vanity projects and tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations but not health care or food assistance for working families - that tells you everything you need to know about where their priorities lie."

Trump has even said, "It's not possible for us to take care of daycare. Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things, they can do it on a state basis." Yet, the $400 million for Trump's ballroom could fund a year of free school lunches for 470,000 kids, a year of free health care for nearly 50,000 Americans, and $10,000 raises for 40,000 teachers.
