Gear up and focus in as the battle escalates with an incredible amount of free and premium content, starting when Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 02 launches on Thursday, February 5 at 9 a.m. PT. The Multiplayer map pool expands with a huge selection of brand-new and returning favorites; a wide lineup of modes arrives throughout the season, led by returning favorites like Safeguard and Overdrive; and Ranked Play returns as the definitive competitive experience for Black Ops 7, launching with the same rules, modes, maps, and Loadout restrictions as the CDL.
Brand-New, 6v6, Small-Sized
The tendrils have taken hold and blood rains from the sky in Torment, a new small-sized Multiplayer map. Atwood is at work here, attempting to extract C-link data, and created this "Torment"; a mix of David Mason's memories and fears. Guild crates and shipping containers hang suspended in the air and tangled up in the sprawling root system, while glimpses of a chemical staging lab, quarantine signs, and hazardous materials suggest that there may be more than meets the eye in this hellish place.
Scale the Bloodfalls and enter a portal into the Basin, a blood-soaked arena branching off toward other portals transporting Operators to the center. Ambush and flank enemies on the other side and use the map's plentiful cover points to defend against enemies attempting the same.
Brand-New, 6v6, Medium-Sized
Fight now, celebrate later as Operators deploy to a Japanese sake factory in this mid-sized map featuring a Production facility, Depot, and Steaming Room. Visitors to the factory can learn about the brewing process through intricate Displays and within the Exhibit, with a Bar upstairs for thirsty patrons.
The various facilities are scattered across the open grounds, including a Loading Dock, an extensive Zen Garden, and a Roundabout entryway, creating pockets of conflict erupting throughout the map. Use your intel to pinpoint the hot zones and get in there to show them who's boss.
Nexus (Launch)
Brand-New, 6v6/2v2, Small-Sized
Battle erupts in David Mason's hallucination of a subzero testing facility where TVs with a red static signal are lodged into the ice. As Victoria Atwood tortures Mason's mind to extract his C-Link data, this twisted vision takes shape in his psyche.
Navigate the nearby Cells where prisoners are held or head into the Tunnel and Mine giving entry to the underground facility. The nearly symmetrical map features an outer perimeter that loops around the central operation; use the available inroads to move between here and the outer loop, cutting down enemy combatants along the way.
Slums (Launch)
Remaster, 6v6, Medium-Sized
The fan-favorite Slums Multiplayer map first seen in Black Ops 2 returns! Duke it out around the central Plaza, one of the most iconic Multiplayer map locations in the Black Ops series, adjacent to the infamous Electronics chokepoint providing cover in a tight space at a meeting point between the middle and bottom lanes.
Engage in fierce urban combat across Upper Street and Lower Street or take to the top lane and ambush enemies from the Garage and Shops. Highly regarded by both casual and competitive players, Slums offers a true test of skill, no matter what your playstyle.
Torque (Mid-Season)
Brand-New, 6v6, Medium-Sized
Get into a high-speed foot chase on this map that recalls The Battle of Los Angeles in Black Ops 2. Fight along the main road, using the stranded vehicles along the way for cover, while looking for Wall Jump opportunities across huge slabs of rubble and freeway twisting up into the air.
Enter the Acropolis National Bank to engage in close quarters combat or traverse the thin ledge behind it to access the slanted roadway with overturned vehicles acting as platforms to help jump across a gaping chasm. In this surreal landscape, anything goes. Be ready for it.
Cliff Town (Mid-Season)
Remaster, 6v6, Medium-Sized
Overlook is a tightly packed urban Multiplayer map, first seen in Black Ops 2 as "Yemen," now reimagined as a cliffside Avalon town while keeping the original map's legacy intact. Expect a blend of narrow alleys with elevated vantage points and tight chokepoints, rewarding both aggressive pushes and savvy positioning. Its central crevasse and surrounding structures create dynamic combat spaces where SMGs, ARs, and sniper lines overlap, making every flank and rooftop fight memorable.
Mission: Peak (Mid-Season)
Brand-New Skirmish Map, 20v20
Gear up for a brand-new 20v20 Skirmish map bringing more large-scale confrontations to Multiplayer. Work to claim High Value Sectors dotted throughout the narrow medieval streets with a central, snaking road to navigate across, watching for snipers nestled across the terracotta tile rooftops. Around half of the perimeter is waterlogged, offering aquatic opportunities courtesy of the available Tactical Rafts, small harbor, and fishery warehouses on the lower rocky ground, below the main medieval settlement where deadly house-to-house combat rages.
Returning from Black Ops 6, 6v6, Medium-Sized
First seen in Black Ops 2, the legendary skatepark returns with the Mid-Season update. Take the fight inside the park and pro shop, or head outdoors to the expansive skate bowl and halfpipe, where open sightlines and vertical movement create constant opportunities. Use ramps and elevation to outplay opponents, chain together stylish eliminations, and pull off highlight-worthy plays, especially as this map benefits from a variety of Wall Jump opportunities across areas you'd normally clamber through.
Returning from Black Ops 6, 6v6, Small-Sized
The classic Firing Range map returns in its Black Ops 6 form, entering the Black Ops 7 map pool with Wall Jumps available for the first time. Expect heavy crossfire along the central Road as Operators battle for control of key vantage points, including the Tower and the upper levels of the Shoot House and Garage. Moving targets glide along their tracks behind the Office and in several other locations, offering a brief distraction while setting up your next engagement. For a less direct approach, break away from the center and head down the Dirt Road, staying alert for ambushes as you pass the Storage unit on the way through.
Along with a wide variety of Playlists, Moshpits, and Party Games, Black Ops 7 Multiplayer has plenty of new and returning Modes to look forward to throughout Season 02:
Returning Mode
In this high-tension game mode not seen in many years, teams alternate escorting a non-combative robot into enemy territory along a set path. Fight off enemies to reach the robot's destination near the defending team's spawn. At least one Operator must be near the robot for it to continue down its path.
The defending team must work together to prevent the robot from reaching its objective within the round time limit. Stall the attacking team by downing Operators near the robot, halting its forward progress, and by unleashing damaging attacks on the robot itself, forcing it to shut down and reboot as the clock keeps ticking.
Successfully escorting or pushing back the robot awards a point to the winning team. If both teams score a point, Overtime begins, adding 60 seconds to the clock. The team who escorts the robot to its objective in the shortest amount of time wins the match.
Returning Mode
Kick into overdrive in this charged up twist on Team Deathmatch, where every elimination earns stars that unlock powerful abilities, with medal-worthy eliminations awarding additional stars, based on the following parameters:
Earning stars also grants special Operator abilities, including the following:
Acquiring all three buffs activates Overdrive, earning double the stars when eliminating enemies. If you get eliminated, or the elimination timer runs out, you'll start back at your base abilities. The first team to collect the maximum number of stars wins.
New Mode
Feeling lucky? Collect Lucky Pouches dropped from friendlies or an enemy to earn a bonus +100 Score for yourself and your team. The first team to collect enough Lucky Pouches will win the match and be the most prosperous in this Lunar New Year-themed twist on the classic Kill Confirmed mode.
New Moshpit
Attention single players only: Expect a Moshpit during the days around Valentine's Day especially for you, with respawn modes and a Party Size set to 1. All 6v6 maps will be available, with Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint in rotation.
Returning Mode
Who needs a date when you can grab your squad and dominate 3v3 with the return of Third Wheel Gunfight? The addition of an extra player on each side intensifies combat across the mode's smaller map sizes. Will you spread out, maximizing map coverage, or stick together like lovebirds, winning or losing it all together as one?
New Mode
Flex your skillset in the new Gauntlet mode, challenging teams to vie for victory over five different game modes, played one after the other. The team with the best results across all five modes is declared champion.
Similar to the Pentathlon mode in Black Ops 6, two teams of six compete through a series of modes. The first team to reach the Score Limit wins. The modes in question are Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, and an additional [CLASSIFIED] mode. The mode changes every two minutes, and modes are chosen at random.
Returning Mode
Jump into this fan-favorite Party Game and face off against the undead or become one of them. Eliminated survivors become infected. Infect everyone or survive to the end to win.
For newcomers to the mode, a single player is randomly chosen to start as the infected following the match countdown. The infected player's goal is to eliminate the remaining survivors; for each takedown, the fallen Operator will then join the ranks of the infected, while the remaining survivors must work together to fight them off until the match timer runs out. But this time, there's a twist: when playing as an Infected, you can earn one of two Mutant Injection Scorestreaks to torment the Survivors. Become a Mangler or Disciple and cause some chaos.
Unholster the deadly Lockshot, acquire multiple targets, and take them all out one after the other with this new low-cost Scorestreak unlockable in the Mid-Season for use in Multiplayer and Zombies.
Scorestreak: Lockshot (Mid-Season)
Score: 450
Mastery Badges: Yes
A sleek smart pistol with 3 rounds that can lock onto multiple targets. A single trigger pull eliminates every locked target in quick succession. Unlock via Weekly Challenge.
Multiple enemy Operators in sight? No problem. With this smart gun in hand, you can bundle them up, fire, and hit all marked targets in the blink of an eye.
Overclock Abilities
The definitive Ranked Play experience returns for Black Ops 7! Compete using the same settings, maps, modes, and weapon restrictions as the Call of Duty League® to earn and progress your Rank and unlock exclusive Ranked rewards. Competition begins with the launch of Season.
Note: Read on, or consult the Competitive Settings Page of the Call of Duty League Website here, for the available Modes, Maps, Game Settings, and Restricted Items in this mode. In addition to Restricted Items listed on the Call of Duty League Website, any items not used by Pro players in CDL competition due to "Gentleman's Agreements" between players ("GAs") will be restricted in Ranked Play. This ensures that the Ranked Play experience matches what you see in official Black Ops 7 Call of Duty League competition as closely as possible.
What exactly is Ranked Play?
Ranked Play Access: To ensure that everyone competing in Ranked Play has a baseline experience with Multiplayer, all players must earn 50 Wins in Matchmade Multiplayer games to unlock access to Black Ops 7 Ranked Play. Wins earned before the start of Season 02 count towards unlocking the mode. Wins in Party Game and Limited Time Modes do not count towards this unlock requirement. Then you're ready to play.
When Multiplayer Ranked Play launches in Season 02, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ will require a stronger form of Remote Attestation for PC players, in partnership with Microsoft. This extra layer of protection sets a new standard for Ranked Play, building on our existing TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements.
If you're a PC player and need more information about security requirements, click here.
How you earn your starting Rank has changed in Black Ops 7 Ranked Play with the addition of Placement Matches! Placement Matches get you into higher Ranks significantly faster than in Black Ops 6 and make starting your Ranked Play career easier than ever. Players start Unranked and must win three Placement Matches to receive a starting Rank. After each Placement Match Win, your Minimum Starting Rank will update to show a projection of where you're expected to place. Win three Placement Matches to receive your starting Rank and begin your climb!
When you receive a starting Rank, you'll also receive a starting SR (Skill Rating) number. Your SR directly corresponds to your Rank and Tier:
Ranking System: Your SR directly corresponds to a Rank and Tier. Continue to win matches to increase your SR and work towards promotion into higher Ranks and Tiers:
Top 250 Rank: Only the best of the best will claim a spot in the highest Rank: Top 250. Here players who've reached 10,000 SR (Iridescent Rank) are ranked by their current SR from #1-250. Active CDL Pros and CDL Broadcast Talent are visually called out in the Leaderboard with info cards so it's easy to keep track of your favorite players and personalities over the course of the Season.
Hot Streak Flames: Win three matches in a row to earn a flaming Rank, which your teammates and rivals can see as one indication of your impressive skills! Continue winning to progress the Hot Streak Flames. Flames expire after a loss or after 72 hours.
Your Rank Each Season: Each Season of Ranked Play is its own skill journey and depending on your Rank you'll need to re-place at the start of a new Season:
Competitive Integrity Solo & Duo Parties Only in Higher Ranks: To ensure a fair playing field for players in the Top 250 and highest Ranks, only parties of 1-2 players will be allowed to form in Crimson Rank or above. Players in Diamond Rank or below will continue to be able to form 1-4 player parties as long as they fit within the Party Skill Restrictions:
Map and Mode Veto: Before each Ranked match, three map and mode combinations are presented in the Lobby and Ranked Play teams can vote to veto one of the presented options. After both teams make their veto pick, the remaining option is selected. If both teams veto the same option, the match's map/mode will be randomly selected out of the two non-vetoed options.
Forfeit: Vote with your team to end a match early if your team is getting blown out, or you've lost a teammate. All teammates must vote for the Forfeit. Forfeited matches count as a standard loss and do not result in SR penalties or suspensions. Forfeit becomes available in the Options Menu at a designated point in each mode:
