Security Council to Discuss Israel's Plan to Take Over Gaza City

The Security Council will hold an emergency meeting at 10 a.m. today to discuss the developing situation in Gaza - in response to Israel's plan for its defence security forces to take control of Gaza City. Briefings will be delivered by Miroslav Jenča, Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas, and Ramesh Rajasingham, Head of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva and Director of the Coordination Division. The Council's European members - Denmark, France, Greece, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom -requested the meeting.
