BPG|SPORTS ANNOUNCES KIRKWOOD SPORTS COMPLEX RENOVATIONS

$10 million in capital improvements will update and improve the 65-acre facility

Latest announcement builds on significant growth and expansion for the sports management firm WILMINGTON, DE - [May 4, 2026] - BPG|SPORTS, Buccini Pollin Group's (BPG) affiliated sports management firm, today announced construction is underway on the $10 million capital improvements to Kirkwood Sports Complex, the 65-acre multi-sports facility in New Castle, Delaware.

The planned improvements, expected to be completed in early May 2026, will reduce the 14-field complex to 12 fields to accommodate additional and improved parking infrastructure. BPG|SPORTS also plans to transition four grass fields to synthetic turf, resurface one current turf field, install new sod, replace stadium lights, update guest facilities, and renovate the indoor turf arena.

"The thoughtful upgrades to Kirkwood will transform one of Delaware's original multi-sports facilities into a premier, state-of-the-art sports destination locally and for out-of-state visitors alike," said Steve Cavalier, senior vice president and general manager at BPG|SPORTS. "We can't wait to deliver a top-notch experience for coaches, teams, and guests just in time for summer tournaments."

"Sports tourism continues to be huge opportunity and economic driver for the First State. We can't thank New Castle County, Governor Matt Meyer, and the Delaware Sports Tourism Capital Investment Fund enough for their support as we maximize the potential of a valuable community asset," added Rob Buccini, founder of Buccini Pollin Group.

Kirkwood Sports Complex is one of Delaware's leading multi-sports facilities, drawing more than 1.5 million visitors per year and hosting some of the biggest youth sports events in the nation with 15 large-scale tournaments held annually. As sports tourism continues to boom, especially with the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in Philadelphia, the improved facilities are expected to be a significant driver of economic growth locally and for the state.

In April 2024, BPG|SPORTS signed a long-term lease with New Castle County to manage and operate the complex. The Delaware Sports Tourism Capital Investment Fund provided $4 million in grant funding to help support renovations. As part of the agreement, BPG|SPORTS will also provide $50,000 per year in scholarships to youth participating in programming at Kirkwood.

The Kirkwood groundbreaking builds on significant momentum for BPG|SPORTS and recent downstate expansion. Most recently, BPG|SPORTS became the official manager and operator of Sports at the Beach (SATB) in Georgetown, a top tournament destination for travel baseball teams with 16 fields and the capacity to host up to 100 teams and 10,000 visitors. BPG|SPORTS also manages Chase Fieldhouse, a 161,000-square-foot facility home to the 76ers G League Delaware Blue Coats.
