Two popular Southern Idaho boat launches have reopened after Idaho Power completed renovations at recreational facilities on the Snake River.
At C.J. Strike Reservoir, south of Mountain Home, North Park campground and the adjacent boat ramp are open with new floating docks. The project was the first of a multi-year upgrade. New docks will be installed at nearby Cottonwood Park, The Narrows, and Loveridge Bridge in the fall.
At Twin Falls Park, east of the city of Twin Falls, the lower part of the park has reopened, with additional parking that includes two accessible parking spots, a vault toilet, and improved shoreline stabilization. The shoreline project is the final phase of an effort that began in 2023 with improvements to the road leading from the upper park to the boat launch area and a new staircase for pedestrian access.
Both facilities are owned, operated, and maintained by Idaho Power under terms of the company's federal licenses to operate its hydroelectric power plants on the Snake River. More information can be found at idahopower.com/recreation.
