Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming Meets with Honourable Mr. Mahabir Pun, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation of Nepal

On September 18, 2026, Honourable Mr. Mahabir Pun, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation of Nepal, met with H.E. Mr. Zhang Maoming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Nepal and the Chinese tunnel rescue experts.

Minister Pun expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their full support and selfless assistance to Nepal in responding to the catastrophic mudslide and flood disaster. He highly commended the work of the Chinese tunnel rescue experts in Nepal, and said that Nepal is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in disaster prevention and mitigation as well as post-disaster reconstruction, and to continuously enhance the well-being of the people of Nepal and China.

Ambassador Zhang thanked the Nepali authorities for supporting the work of the Chinese tunnel rescue experts. He stressed that China will stand with Nepal in overcoming difficulties, provide further assistance to Nepal for the response to the catastrophic mudslide and flood disaster and for post-disaster reconstruction.

Ambassador Zhang and Minister Pun also signed the Handover Certificate for Tunnel Rescue Equipment Provided by the People's Republic of China to Nepal.

At the request of the Government of Nepal, on August 29 and August 30, the Ministry of Emergency Management of China urgently dispatched nine Chinese tunnel rescue experts to Nepal to provide support for Nepal's tunnel rescue operations.
