Monroe County is fortunate it can help others in need after Hurricane Milton. After securing the light damage sustained in the Florida Keys, staff from the departments of Solid Waste, Parks and Beaches, Roads and Bridges, Facilities Maintenance, and Fleet Management headed to Sarasota County on Tuesday to assist. Combined with their assets, they will give a little reprieve to the hurricane-damaged area.

Staff helping in Sarasota County include Ricky Gardner, Giovanni Martinez, Taylor Reid, Jimmy Hoy, Montillo "Scott" Desquotte, Francisco Palomares, Robert Biers, Robert Henry, Julio Mollineda, Karel Alvarez, Alex Thomas, Ron Yoakum, and Alan Soto.

For the past few years, Monroe County staff has been able to assist in hurricane relief for hurricanes Micheal, Dorian, Ian, and now Milton.

"We want to continue the tradition of helping others as we were helped after Hurricane Irma," said Monroe County Administrator Christine Hurley.
