MIA director named Industry Leader by Global Traveler magazine

Airport wins two other awards after voting by readers

FXExpress Publications, Inc., the publisher of Global Travelermagazine and other leading travel industry resources, has named Miami International Airport Director and CEO Ralph Cutié its 2024 Best Airport Industry Leader. Cutié and other award winners were recognized at an event at The Lotos Club in New York City on Sept. 19.

Cutié was one of six recipients of the publishing company's Industry Leader Awards, which recognizes "the best and brightest in the travel industry" and "those leading the way in their fields," including airports, aviation, cruise lines, hotels, green initiatives and sustainability, and diversity, equality, and inclusion. At the Sept. 19 event, MIA also received awards for Best Family-Friendly Domestic AirportandFavorite Airport Shopping.

This industry leader award is a well-deserved honor for Director Cutie, who has skillfully led MIA to become the fastest-growing hub airport in the country since the pandemic and is guiding it through an unprecedented $9 billion capital improvement program. The team at FXExpress Publications, Inc., submitted nominations for industry leaders in each of the categories. After all nominations were compiled, a survey was distributed to all members of the FXExpress team to select the final Industry Leader honoree.

Last week, MIA was also named Best Family-Friendly Domestic Airportby WhereverFamily, a trusted travel source for family travel and part of the FXExpress Publications, Inc., family of publications. Readers of WhereverFamily voted for the best in family travel across a range of categories collected from Nov. 1, 2023 to July 1, 2024.

Last month, MIA earned the Favorite Airport Shopping Awardlast month from Trazee Travel, anotherFXExpress Publications resource.Trazeetravel.com conducted a survey of its readers from Aug. 15, 2023, to April 16, 2024, with open-ended questions for the best in many categories important to the millennial travel market (under 40 years of age). Only those questionnaires where more than 50 percent of the questions were completed were counted. Those with less than 50 percent answered were discarded. Employees of the magazine or individuals associated with the travel industry were not able to participate in the survey.
