WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Representative Jeff Crank (CO-05) announced that he helped secure a $12,320,715 grant to the Colorado Springs Airport.
Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has been awarded $12.3 million in Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to support the reconstruction of Taxiway Bravo (B5-E). Scheduled to begin construction in early 2027, this project will fully reconstruct a critical section of airfield pavement to ensure continued safe and reliable operations. The scope includes upgrades to meet current FAA design standards, pavement strengthening to accommodate future aircraft demand, and improvements to airfield drainage systems.
"Our Colorado Springs Airport is a hub for travelers all over the globe," said Rep. Crank. "Grants like these are imperative to ensure efficiency and safety for all travelers who visit our airport. I look forward to seeing how we continue to meet the future of aircraft demand in Colorado's Fifth Congressional District."
"Investments like this ensure we can continue delivering safe, efficient airfield infrastructure for the airlines, military partners and general aviation users who rely on COS every day," said Alex Kovacs, Director of Aviation for Colorado Springs Airport. "We're grateful for the FAA's support as we modernize key airfield systems."
