FRUITLAND - The Idaho Transportation Department will begin lane closures Monday, March 23, on U.S. Highway 95 between Fruitland and Payette as work starts to rebuild and extend the life of the roadway.
Starting Monday through April 15, motorists can expect daytime lane closures at seven locations as crews replace culverts along the corridor. When closures are in place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each weekday crews will direct traffic with flaggers. All lanes will be open each night.
The first two locations will be just north of NW 25th Street in Fruitland and between the Northern Pacific railroad track and the Payette River Bridge. Once these crossings are completed, crews will move north to complete additional crossings. These include a crossing north of the Payette River Bridge near Killebrew Drive, another north of 10th Avenue in Payette, and three near the intersection of 16th Street and Seventh Avenue in Payette.
This work marks the beginning of efforts to reconstruct the highway. Guardrail, signage and culverts will be replaced as needed, and a conduit will be installed to support future fiber service.
Additional closures, including periodic full closures of US-95 with detours, are planned throughout the summer. Construction is anticipated to be complete this fall. Motorists are encouraged to check 511.idaho.gov before traveling, plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
