ENMU Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking Presents: 'Luchadora!'

Eastern New Mexico University's Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking is proud to announce its upcoming production of Luchadora! by Alvaro Saar Rios. This vibrant, family-friendly play brings the high-flying world of Mexican wrestling to the ENMU stage for a limited run this April.

The story starts when Vanessa, a teenager in Milwaukee, discovers a pink wrestling mask amongst her grandmother's belongings. This discovery leads to more as her grandmother, Nana Lupita, tells the story of how she became a world-class Lucha Libre wrestler. The audience sees how young Lupita learned her family's secret and took on the mask of one of Lucha Libre's best wrestlers.

"It is so much fun to direct a play with an actual wrestling ring in the middle of the stage," said Leonard Madrid, ENMU faculty and production director. "What also makes it so exciting is the cultural aspects. This story could have happened right here in Portales."

Luchadora! serves as the grand finale to the Department's season of youth-oriented and family-friendly programming, which featured beloved titles such as The Giver and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.
