Point Breeze Credit Union and Central Credit Union of Maryland Announce Plans to Merge

Point Breeze Credit Union and Central Credit Union of Maryland have announced plans to merge, pending regulatory and member approvals. This strategic partnership is designed to enhance member value and expand convenient access to services.

The proposed merger brings together two member-focused credit unions with shared values and a commitment to personalized, community-based service. If approved, the combined organization will operate under the Point Breeze Credit Union name and continue to deliver the easy, reliable banking experience members have come to trust.

"This merger is about creating more value and convenience for members," said Tonia Niedzialkowski, President and CEO of Point Breeze Credit Union. "Together, we can offer more locations, better rates, and enhanced digital tools-all while maintaining the friendly, personalized service that makes banking less complicated."

Point Breeze Credit Union is widely recognized as a trusted neighbor in the communities it serves, helping members save time and money through convenient, member-first service. The merger will allow the combined credit union to expand its footprint, improve operational efficiencies, and invest in new products and services that meet the evolving needs of its members.

"We're excited about the future and what this partnership means for our members," said Lisa Jester, President and CEO of Central Credit Union of Maryland. "This is a win-win that positions us to grow together."

The merger is anticipated to be completed by January 2026, pending approval by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), the Maryland Office of Financial Regulation, and Central CU's members. Until then, it will be "business as usual" at both credit unions while they continue to serve their respective members at their branch locations until a full systems integration can occur late next year.
