Taft Adds Experienced Litigator to its Phoenix Office

Litigator Savanna Jacobsohn has joined Taft's Phoenix office, emphasizing the firm's growth in the region and deepening its litigation bench.

Jacobsohn focuses her practice on complex state and federal litigation, representing clients across a wide range of commercial, regulatory, and administrative matters, managing cases from pre-litigation strategy through trial. She has significant courtroom experience, including a four-week trial challenging the constitutionality of capital funding for Arizona school districts.

"For me, becoming a lawyer was driven by the opportunity to help people during some of the most challenging moments in their lives," said Jacobsohn. "My practice allows me to combine thoughtful legal analysis with advocacy, and I find it especially rewarding to be a resource for people when they need guidance and support the most."

In addition to her litigation and trial experience, Jacobsohn centers part of her practice around cannabis law. While in law school, she worked with the Arizona Supreme Court's in house department, where she researched the legal implications of adult use marijuana in relation to existing medical marijuana laws and prepared memoranda analyzing the regulatory landscape. Jacobsohn then founded the Cannabis Legal Association at Arizona State University (ASU) to educate and engage students and young attorneys on Arizona's evolving cannabis laws.

"Savanna is a terrific addition to our litigation team," said Craig Morgan, partner-in-charge of Taft's Phoenix office. "She brings meaningful courtroom experience, strong strategic instincts, and a growing focus in cannabis law that aligns well with the needs of our clients in Arizona. As our office continues its rapid growth, attorneys like Savanna deepen our ability to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients while reinforcing the collaborative culture that defines Taft."

On Jacobsohn moving her practice to Taft, she noted: "I was drawn to Taft for its supportive atmosphere and commitment to hands-on legal practice. The firm's emphasis on teamwork, mentorship, and meaningful client work, particularly within the growing Phoenix office, made it clear that Taft was the right place for me to continue developing as an attorney while contributing to a larger, forward-thinking team."

Jacobsohn earned her J.D. from ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, where she served as executive article editor of the Arizona State Sports and Entertainment Law Journal and was active in several student organizations. She received her B.A. in entertainment industry studies and a minor in legal studies from Belmont University.

Since combining with Taft on Jan. 1, 2025, what was formerly Sherman & Howard's Phoenix office has grown by 150%. The firm has welcomed 16 attorneys, including Jacobsohn, significantly expanding the firm's strength across key practice areas and reshaping the depth of legal services available in the region.
