12 Near West Side Lots Proposed for Mixed-Use Redevelopment

Twelve vacant City lots on the Near West Side would be purchased and redeveloped by RE Holdings Group through a land sale proposed to City Council by Mayor Brandon Johnson today.

Consisting of .9 acres on the 1600 and 1700 blocks of West Madison Street and the 2000 block of West Warren Boulevard, the properties would be sold for $2.5 million and used for mixed-use construction projects. The proposed sales price was the highest of six bids submitted through DPD's ChiBlockBuilder land sale portal in October 2024.

The parcels were collectively valued at $1.6 million in a 2024 market valuation.
