The North Port City Commission approved Ordinance No. 2026-19 on second reading during its July 7 meeting, authorizing a $4,082,133 budget amendment to fully fund the Warm Mineral Springs Park Building Rehabilitation Project.
The approved funding allows the City to move forward with the construction phase of the project, which includes the historic renovation of the Admission Building, a hybrid renovation of the Spa Building, stabilization and mothballing of the Cyclorama, wet floodproofing measures for project structures, utility upgrades and parking improvements.
The Warm Mineral Springs Building Rehabilitation Project previously had $12.6 million available for construction. Following completion of the project's design, permitting and pre-construction work, the Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction was established at approximately $16.7 million. The approved budget amendment provides the additional funding needed to complete the project as planned.
"This investment reflects the City's ongoing commitment to preserving one of North Port's most significant historic and natural resources while enhancing the experience for residents and visitors," said Director of Parks & Recreation Sandy Pfundheller. "These improvements will help protect the site's historic structures, support long-term operations and position Warm Mineral Springs Park for future generations."
Warm Mineral Springs Park is one of North Port's most iconic destinations and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The rehabilitation project is designed to preserve the site's historic character while improving infrastructure and supporting future visitor experiences.
Construction timelines and additional project updates will be shared as they become available. For more information about Warm Mineral Springs Park.
