Traditional Music at The Lyceum: Two Spring Concerts, Beginning Tomorrow

The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum proudly continues its Traditional Music Series, presenting world-class folk and traditional artists on the historic stage once known as "Lyceum Hall." With two exceptional concerts-beginning tomorrow-this series offers audiences an unforgettable experience of live traditional music in an intimate, historic setting.

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 7 p.m., experience the electrifying duo of Séan Gavin & Caoimhín Ó Fearghail-master pipers and dynamic performers-bringing the depth and energy of traditional Irish music to life. This marks Seán Gavin's third appearance in the series.

Seán Gavin is one of the most highly regarded Irish musicians of his generation. A master of the uilleann pipes and flute, he is the first and only musician born outside Ireland to win the prestigious Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal. His latest recording is The Boys of 25, with accordion maestro Colm Gannon.

Caoimhín Ó Fearghail (Kwee-veen) hails from An Rinn in the Waterford Gaeltacht. He received the TG4 Young Musician of the Year award and was named Best Folk Instrumentalist at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards. Deeply influenced by his home region and a wide range of Irish musicians, he has since mastered uilleann pipes, flute, guitar, and bouzouki, and is also an accomplished singer and Irish speaker. He has toured worldwide with Caladh Nua, Danú, and others.

Tickets: $35.

Then, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., don't miss Dylan Foley & Matt Mancuso, an exceptional pairing of multi-instrumental talent.

Dylan Foley and Matt Mancuso

Dylan Foley is one of the most accomplished fiddlers in Irish traditional music today and a four-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion. Hailed by master fiddler Brian Conway as "one of the finest fiddlers of his generation," Foley is known for his technical brilliance, dynamic style, and deep respect for the tradition.

Matt Mancuso is a talented multi-instrumentalist who plays both fiddle and trumpet. His playing is spirited and exuberant, underpinned by deep technical mastery. Introduced to Irish music by his father, respected guitarist Pete Mancuso, he studied with renowned musician and teacher Maureen Glynn and with Tony De Marco.

Foley and Mancuso have regularly performed together at live events in New York and beyond.

Tickets: $30/$15 youth.

Both concerts take place at The Lyceum, 201 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA. A cash/credit bar will be available.

These events are co-sponsored by the Office of Historic Alexandria and the North American Morris Dance Organization. For more information, visit traditionalmusicseries.org or alexandriava.gov/Lyceum.
