The EU Delegation to Iceland organised a tree planting event in Heiðmörk Nature Reserve last Friday in cooperation with Reykjavík Forestry Association.

The EU Delegation, together with colleagues from the Embassies of Denmark, Finland, France, , Germany, Poland, Spain and Sweden, planted some 1,000 trees in an area on the edge of Heiðmörk forest.

The tree planting event was organised to raise awareness of the importance of international environment and climate cooperation as 2025 marks the 10 year anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement.

The Delegation thanks Reykjavik Forestry Association for the cooperation. This is the second time the EU Delegation has teamed up with Reykjavík Forestry Association to support reforestation efforts in and around Heiðmörk Nature Reserve - the last tree planting event took place in October 2023.
