On Monday, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will make his first official visit to the European Parliament since taking office on 1 October 2024.
When: Monday, 13 January from 16.00 to 17.15
Where: European Parliament in Brussels, ANTALL 2Q2 and via Parliament's webstreaming
Mr Rutte will meet with members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Security and Defence and the Delegation for Relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
In the context of Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine and the new US administration taking office later this month, the topics to be discussed will primarily focus on efforts to strengthen NATO defence and deterrence as well as the delivery of military assistance to Ukraine. MEPs will also inquire about other regional and global security threats that require close cooperation between the EU and NATO.
