SUBJ/GOLD STAR MOTHER'S AND FAMILY'S DAY MESSAGE 2025//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Each year, on the last Sunday in September,
Marines across the globe pause to observe Gold Star Mother's and
Family's Day, a day not just of remembrance, but a day to express
deep respect for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. In
honoring the families of our fallen Marines, we are reminded that
service in the Marine Corps is never a solitary act. It is a family
commitment. Every Marine who gave their life carried the Eagle,
Globe, and Anchor with pride and dedication, and now it's our
responsibility to stand with their families and reaffirm our
commitment: You are not alone. Your Marine will never be forgotten.
2. This year, on 28 September, I ask that we do more than just
observe. We act. We reach out. We remember. We honor. And we
continue to live and lead in a way that reflects the values for
which our fallen gave their lives.
3. To our families who carry the legacy of their Marine: You are
forever part of the Marine Corps. Your strength humbles us. Your
sacrifice strengthens our determination. And your Marine lives on-in
our hearts, in our history, and in the fight.
4. Semper Fidelis, Eric M. Smith, General, U.S. Marine Corps,
Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
