Mexico's Strong, Coordinated Consular Network in the U.S. Defends the Dignity and Rights of its Citizens

The Mexican Government stands ready to support and defend the dignity and rights of its citizens through its network of 53 consulates in the United States. It has a strategy and legal defense team that will uphold U.S. and international law to protect Mexican nationals, regardless of their immigration status.

In his remarks to the consuls, Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente said that Mexico faces the upcoming challenges with a united and robust consular network that works in coordination and will rise to meet current circumstances.

Secretary de la Fuente said that President Claudia's foreign policy priority is protecting and defending Mexican citizens abroad. He urged the consular corps to be proactive to better respond to the needs of the Mexican community.

He emphasized that Mexican citizens anywhere in the United States are not and will not be alone, as Mexico, represented by its consular network, stands ready to assist them and protect their rights under any circumstance, using all available legal means.

He instructed the consuls to continue their open-door policy for hearing and addressing the concerns of Mexican nationals. He also instructed them to continue building community partnerships with lawyers, social organizations, universities, churches, and community leaders to enhance the protection of the Mexican community.
