General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025. This is a countywide election with 464,363 eligible Johnson County voters. In this guide for voters, the Johnson County Election Office provides information about ballot items and voting options.

What is on the ballot?

Local offices on the general election ballot include mayor, city council, school board members, Johnson County Community College trustees and Water District No. 1 of Johnson County board positions. Voters in the City of Prairie Village will have a ballot question to consider. Voters can check their registration status and can view their sample ballot at jocoelection.org/voterview.

Advance voting by mail and in person

Advance mail ballots must be postmarked by Election Day or returned to one of the six ballot drop box locations across the county by 7 p.m. on Election Day. Voters can also return their advance ballot in person at an Election Day polling site during voting hours. Voters can view the status of their advance voting by mail ballot at jocoelection.org/voterview.

In-person advance voting sites are available on weekdays and Saturday, Nov. 1, before the election. Check the Election Office website for specific, dates, times and locations.

In-person voting on Election Day

Polling places will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on Nov. 4. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast their vote. Voters must vote at their assigned polling place on Election Day. Polling places can be found at jocoelection.org/voterview.

Provisional ballots will be reviewed and counted at the canvass for the election, which begins on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the Johnson County Election Office, 2101 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe.

The results will be certified when the canvass reconvenes on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 8:30 a.m., at Room LL200 at the Johnson County Administration Building, 111 S. Cherry St., Olathe. The canvass is open to the public. Official final results will be released after the canvass.

Reporting Election Results

The first unofficial election results are typically released around 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. These results will include votes cast at advance voting locations and mail ballots returned by Election Day.

As votes cast at Election Day polling places are returned to the Election Office and tabulated, the unofficial results will be updated periodically on the Election Office's website until all precincts are reporting.

Write-in votes may affect the election outcome, especially in local races. A more detailed breakdown will be provided at canvass.
