The Public Works Department is made up of various sub-departments including Fleet, Line Repair, Streets/Stormwater and Traffic, Wastewater, and Water. Each week, over 100 employees are responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of existing and new infrastructure across League City which includes everything from roadways and traffic lights to storm drains, sewers, and water production.
Below are some tips and projects they are working on:
Stormwater Permit Sampling - Training
The League City Wastewater Department completed its annual stormwater training. This training ensures that our team is equipped to protect our department's Stormwater Permit. By learning about pollution prevention and following regulations, our staff can effectively manage our stormwater discharge. With their help, we can continue to safeguard our natural resources and keep League City a wonderful place to live.
New Parking Lot Installation Underway at Bay Ridge Park
Streets Department crews began construction of a new parking lot at Bay Ridge Park. The work includes grading, base installation, paving, and striping to establish a fully functional parking area that will improve access and convenience for park visitors. As work progresses, access to certain areas near the construction site may be limited. Residents visiting the park are encouraged to use nearby street parking and follow posted signage for safety.
New Fuel Site Now Operational at PWOC Facility
Fleet Maintenance is pleased to announce the successful completion and activation of a new fuel site at the Public Works Operations Center (PWOC) Facility, at 1701 West League City Parkway.
This new site is now fully operational and offers diesel and unleaded fuel, providing enhanced support for the growing fuel demands of City vehicles. The facility has been strategically developed to serve as a critical fuel resource during significant weather events, ensuring continued operations and emergency preparedness.
Completing this project represents a strong team effort-from procuring the fuel tank to installing protective safety bollards. Each process phase was executed with precision and collaboration, highlighting our commitment to operational excellence and public service continuity.
We thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication to helping bring this new fuel site online.
