Police Chief placed on leave
On October 14, 2026, City Manager Michael Spurgeon announced Police Chief Lance Arnold has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
City Manager Spurgeon directed Broken Arrow Police Department Deputy Chief Scott Bennett to immediately begin serving as Acting Police Chief.
The City Council and City Administration recognize and understand the potential interest and questions this personnel decision may generate due to the position's profile in the community. Citizens can rest assured that their safety and well-being remain the top priority in Broken Arrow. City leadership has complete faith and confidence in Acting Police Chief Bennett and offers its full support to him to lead the men and women of the Broken Arrow Police Department to continue their duty to serve the citizens of Broken Arrow.
