October 17, 2025 - As the outdoor entertainment season has come to a close in Downtown Midland, the Downtown Development Authority asks residents and visitors to weigh in on their experiences in the Main Street Pedestrian Plaza district through a new survey.
From June 6 through October 1 this year, Downtown Midland closed two blocks of Main Street to vehicular traffic to create the Pedestrian Plaza, a multi-block gathering space that provides more room for outdoor dining, events, and entertainment during the summer months. Since its debut in 2020, the Pedestrian Plaza has continued to expand its offerings to include live music, Adult Recess, more outdoor seating, outdoor games and amenities, and more. The Pedestrian Plaza is approved by City Council through the 2028 season, which runs from the beginning of June through the end of September.
Downtown visitors are encouraged to relay their experiences in the Pedestrian Plaza and provide suggestions to improve these amenities in 2026. If you haven't experienced the Pedestrian Plaza yet, you can tell us that, too! The survey should take about five minutes to complete and can be accessed at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/ecityhall.
The survey will close on Sunday, November 2 at 11 p.m.
Results of the survey will be used by the Downtown Development Authority, Midland Downtown Business Association, and City staff to provide continual improvement to the Pedestrian Plaza. Feedback will be shared at the November meeting of the Downtown Development Authority Board.
Residents who do not have internet access or cannot complete the survey online may submit feedback and suggestions to the Downtown Development Authority at 989-837-3330 or [email protected]. For more information on Downtown Midland, please visit www.downtownmidland.com.
