Arlington, VA - Today, the White House released its National AI Legislative Framework, which outlines its preferred path forward for Congress to legislate on the rapidly-growing artificial intelligence industry. The framework outlines a variety of objectives for Congress, with many holding significant implications for the news media industry.
In response, Danielle Coffey, President and CEO of the News/Media Alliance , said, "We appreciate the White House putting forth a framework that outlines the many complicated policy questions surrounding Artificial Intelligence technology. In particular, we agree with its clear recognition that intellectual property rights - particularly those of publishers - must be respected.
As always in Washington, the devil is in the details, and the NMA looks to continue our conversations with Congressional leadership and the administration to ensure that any legislative framework includes strong, unambiguous guardrails that provide transparency, accountability and respect for content creators."
